LOGO DESIGN

What is a logo?

According to Wikipedia a LOGO is defined as: is a graphic mark, emblem, or symbol used to aid and promote public identification and recognition. It may be of an abstract or figurative design or include the text of the name it represents as in a wordmark.

A logo can be a symbol, a name in a specific font and color, an image or anything that will well identify your brand. We see a golden M and know we are approaching a McDonald’s or if we see an Apple we instantly think of technology. The Nike Swoosh or a colorful G, we know what these symbols represent. A logo is a visual representation of the brand that is being sold or the service being offered.

What makes having a logo important?

Good marketing has consistency as an element of good design. A logo is the first thing that is noticed and that is carried throughout all web or print marketing. A logo can also give a visual memory to the product or service, the name may not be remembered but the logo may be easily recalled. Plus it can look really cool on a hat or article of clothing. We are a visually based society and having a visually based representation of your business, organization or group helps with brand management.

Where are logos used?

As mentioned above, a logo is carried throughout all aspects of marketing. So that means on a business card, hat, shirt, mug, trucks or a fleet of vehicles, social media page, letterhead, envelope, stickers and other promotional or printed products. It brings unified design across all levels of promotion and helps visual recognition.
